WORKSHOP ON NATIONAL EMPLOYMENT POLICY (MALAYSIA)

The Capacity Development Workshop on National Employment Policy, held from 17-19 July 2024, supports Malaysia's efforts to develop a comprehensive employment policy framework. The participants acquired skills in designing and implementing effective employment policies. They explored international best practices, economic policies for job creation, and pro-employment budgeting, through an interactive format of peer learning and knowledge sharing among policymakers and social partners, promoting sustainable employment growth in Malaysia.

OBJECTIVES

  • To provide a broad overview of how comprehensive national employment policies and related policy domains can be instrumental in supporting structural change, how to frame a national employment policy, what the relevant underlying ILO approaches and international standards are, and lessons and achievements that have been observed from existing experiences with employment promotion.

  • To explore international good practices and varied approaches on employment promotion around the world, and through this identify potential for new policy approaches for employment in Malaysia.
