The Capacity Development Workshop on National Employment Policy, held from 17-19 July 2024, supports Malaysia's efforts to develop a comprehensive employment policy framework. The participants acquired skills in designing and implementing effective employment policies. They explored international best practices, economic policies for job creation, and pro-employment budgeting, through an interactive format of peer learning and knowledge sharing among policymakers and social partners, promoting sustainable employment growth in Malaysia.
OBJECTIVES
To provide a broad overview of how comprehensive national employment policies and related policy domains can be instrumental in supporting structural change, how to frame a national employment policy, what the relevant underlying ILO approaches and international standards are, and lessons and achievements that have been observed from existing experiences with employment promotion.
To explore international good practices and varied approaches on employment promotion around the world, and through this identify potential for new policy approaches for employment in Malaysia.
