The course will look into the opportunities provided by the ILO Tripartite Declaration of Principles Concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy (MNE Declaration) and how to use the MNE Declaration as a framework for action in favour of decent work and inclusive sustainable economic growth in Ethiopia.

CONTENT
Module 1: ILO activities in Ethiopia and ILO approach on Decent work, corporate social responsibility and the promotion of responsible, sustainable business practices and investments
• One ILO in Ethiopia: overview of programmes, projects and perspectives
• Presentation of key national frameworks, strategies and policies
• The ILO approach to corporate social responsibility and the promotion of responsible, sustainable business practices and investments: an introduction to the ILO MNE Declaration
Module 2: ILO MNE Declaration: a framework for action
• ILO MNE Declaration: translating its principles into action
• The ILO MNE Declaration: its operational tools
• Country level case studies
• The MNE Declaration and other tools and initiatives to promote sustainable, inclusive and responsible business practices
Module 3: The way forward
a roadmap for the promotion and implementation of the MNE Declaration in Ethiopia to further advance decent work, responsible business and and inclusive sustainable economic growth in Ethiopia.
ACHIEVEMENT
• Be knowledgeable of the principles of the MNE Declaration, its approach and its operational tools;
• Be able to explain the relevance of the principles of the Declaration with regard to national development challenges (including as regard to dealing with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic ) and the achievement of the Decent Work and 2030 Agenda;
• Understand the different roles of governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations and the private sector including sectoral associations, in maximizing the positive economic and social development impacts of investments and enterprises operations;
• Be able to identify concrete actions to further increase synergies and coherence at the regional, sectoral and national levels in and between government employers’ and workers’ organizations, and enterprises;
• Be able to formulate strategies and opportunities for dialogue at sectoral and national levels between government, employers organizations, workers organizations and enterprises;
